Tide Women’s Golfers Cheyenne Knight, Kristen Gillman and Lauren Stephenson Earn WGCA All-America Honors...

on 5/24/2017

Crimson Tide Women's Golf:

Alabama sophomores Cheyenne Knight and Lauren Stephenson and freshman Kristen Gillman have been named to the 2017 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Team.

Knight and Gillman were first-team selections. Stephenson was named to the second team.

The WGCA announced the first-team honorees on Tuesday morning and the second-team and honorable mention selections on Tuesday afternoon.

Knight earned first-team WGCA honors in 2016 and was also the association's Freshman of the Year last season. She earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-SEC honors earlier this season. Knight was Alabama's low scorer at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships for the second year in a row, finishing in a tie for 10th at seven-over par.

Gillman was selected as the SEC Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-SEC first team and the SEC All-Freshman team earlier this month. She was Alabama's No. 2 scorer at the NCAA Championships, finishing in a tie for 17th at 10-over par.

Stephenson was a first-team All-SEC selection this season and shared the team lead in top-five tournament finishes with Knight and Gillman at five. Stephenson also led the Tide in tournaments under par with eight in 11 outings.

Alabama has now seen 13 players earn WGCA All-America honors 24 times since 2006 under head coach Mic Potter.

The list includes 11 first-team selections by seven different players, five second-team picks and eight honorable mentions.
