on 3/02/2017

Crimson Tide Women's Basketball:

GREENVILLE, S.C.;

No. 12 seed Alabama handed No. 5 seed Tennessee a 72-64 loss in the second round of the 2017 SEC Women's Basketball tournament.

Meoshonti Knight came off the bench to lead the Tide in scoring with 16 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field, including two 3-pointers, shooting 6-for-10 from the free throw line.

Alabama fell behind early in the first, only to go on a 10-3 run to close out the quarter with a 15-14 lead. Tennessee responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Tide 15-7, going into halftime with a 29-22 lead.

Alabama closed out the third quarter on a 19-5 run, giving them a 43-39 lead heading into the fourth.

Tennessee held Hannah Cook scoreless in the first half, but Alabama's regular-season 3-point leader responded to a couple of big Tennessee shots by hitting two huge buckets of her own in the final five minutes.

Cook closed out the game with eight points.

UP NEXT: Alabama faces No. 4 seed Kentucky Friday in Game 8 of the SEC Tournament. Tipoff is set for approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 7 between No. 1 seed South Carolina and No. 8 seed Georgia on SEC Network.
