      Crimson Tide Gymnastics:

University of Alabama All-American and Scholastic All-American Aja Sims has been named to the 14th-annual Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Community Service Team, the league office announced Friday.

Sims has been a part of a number of service projects during her Alabama tenure, including Habitat for Humanity work days. The senior from Orlando, Fla., has been a volunteer for the Color Run, the Halloween Extravaganza and the Jingle Bell Run. Sims also took part in the RISE Holiday Party and Parents Night Out.

A member of the President's List and the Dean's List, she was the NCAA Seattle Regional Balance Beam Champion and has been named All-SEC and to the 2014 SEC All-Freshman Team.

The SEC sponsors a Community Service Team for each of its 20 sports. The Gymnastics Community Service Team represents eight SEC gymnasts, one from each competing institution, highlighting an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Previous Crimson Tide honorees are:
Lauren Beers (2016, 2015), Kim Jacob (2014, 2013), Ria Domier (2012), Alyssa Chapman (2011), Kassi Price (2010), Ricki Lebegern (2009, 2008), Courtney Priess (2007), Dana Pierce (2006, 2005) and Stephanie Kite (2004).

Sims and No. 6-ranked Alabama begin the postseason Saturday with the SEC Championships in the evening session that gets underway at 6 p.m. ET in Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.
