Alabama Baseball Splits with Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday to Secure Series Win...

on 3/13/2017

      Crimson Tide Baseball:

Alabama baseball split its doubleheader with Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday, falling 8-3 in game one before rallying back for a 12-2 victory in seven innings in the second game to claim the series win.

The Crimson Tide moves to 9-6 on the season following Sunday's pair of games.

"It doesn't matter where we're at in the lineup, I feel like we have a chance to score,"
said Alabama head coach Greg Goff. "I'm glad our guys responded (after the game-one loss)."

"That's what I walked away with tonight – that our guys responded after we didn't play well (in the first game). Arkansas-Pine Bluff just beat us."

"They hit two bombs, and (starting pitcher Nathan Sawrie) competed, mixed his pitches and got us out. I don't want to take it away from them that they got us game one, but overall I'm pleased with the way we competed this weekend."

Cody Henry paced the Tide in hitting during the doubleheader, finishing 3-for-6 with a double, a home run, one RBI and two runs scored. Following him was Tanner DeVinny, who closed out his two games at 2-for-4 with a home run, a team-high four RBI and one run scored.

Next up for Alabama is a pair of midweek contests, first against Eastern Illinois on Tuesday, March 14, followed by in-state foe Samford on Wednesday.

Both games are scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT start at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Fans can catch both contests live on SEC Network+
