Crimson Tide Track & Field:

The Alabama men's track and field team moved up three spots to No. 6 while the women moved up two places to seventh in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Rankings released Monday afternoon.

The men's team earned 82.96 points while the women's team posted 82.82 points.

Regionally, the men remain No. 1 in the South Region with 366.59 points while the women are No. 3 with 249.35 points.

Both teams are coming off of strong performances at the 2017 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Nashville last weekend.

The Alabama men finished second with 93 points, their best finish since 1984 and second-highest point total ever, at the SEC meet. The Tide women finished sixth with 51 points for their best placing since 2006.

The national team rankings are compiled by a mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons.

The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race.

Ranking points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points.
