Crimson Tide Men Ninth, Women Up to 20th in Latest USTFCCCA National Rankings...

on 2/01/2017

Crimson Tide Track & Field:

The Alabama women's track and field team moved up two spots to No. 20 while the men remained in the Top 10 at No. 9 in the second U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Rankings of the regular season released Monday, Jan. 30.

The men's team posted 67.38 points while the women earned 43.38 points.

The Crimson Tide men and women are coming off another solid performance at the Bob Pollock Invitational, which took place Jan. 27-28 at Clemson University.

The weekend was highlighted by pole vaulter Will Herrscher setting an Alabama men's indoor record with a winning clearance of 17-7 (5.36m) and Stacey Destin setting a school record in the women's pentathlon with 4,144 points to win in her first career pentathlon competition.

The national team rankings are compiled by a mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons.

The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race.

Ranking points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points.
