Crimson Tide Men First, Women Second in USTFCCCA Regional Track & Field Rankings

on 2/02/2017

Crimson Tide Track & Field:

The Alabama men's track and field team moved up one spot to No. 1 while the women advanced three spots to No. 2 in the South region in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings, which were released earlier this week.

Crimson Tide student-athletes have already set three school records in the first three weeks of the season. Junior Daniel Haugh established a new UA best in the men's weight throw with a mark of 73-8 1/4 (22.46m) at the Commodore Invitational on Jan. 13.

At the Bob Pollock Invitational on Jan. 27-28, sophomore Will Herrscher broke the men's pole vault record with a clearance of 17-7 (5.36m) while fellow sophomore Stacey Destin set a new school record in the women's pentathlon with 4,144 points in her first attempt at the event.

Overall, the Tide track & field teams have posted 26 performances that rank among the top-10 in school history so far this season.

The teams return to action Feb. 10-11, with the distance runners competing at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa and the remainder of the two squads traveling to Clemson, S.C. for the Tiger Paw Invitational.
