Alabama Men’s Golf Tied for 11th Through 18 Holes of Puerto Rico Classic...

on 2/20/2017

Crimson Tide Mens Golf:

The Alabama men's golf team is in a tie for 11th overall with an 8-over par 296 during Sunday's opening round of the 2017 Puerto Rico Classic.

Tide sophomore Davis Riley, who came into the spring season opener second on the team in stroke average, was forced to withdraw from the first day due to an injury.

It is possible for Riley to return to action in Monday's second round. He will test the injury prior to the Tide's tee time to determine if he can play.

Despite the setback, Alabama will enter round two just seven strokes back of a top five spot. Georgia leads the 15-team field with a 7-under 281, two strokes ahead of second place North Carolina State (283).

Clemson (284) is in third, followed by Kentucky (286) and Ohio State (289) to round out the top five, respectively.
