Krystal Rivers Earns Fourth Career AVCA All-America Honor...

on Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Crimson Tide:

Alabama senior Krystal Rivers earned her fourth career All-America nod from the American Volleyball Coaches' Association Wednesday, becoming the first four-time All-American in program history.

Rivers was named an honorable mention All-American this season, marking the third such honor of her career in addition to third team recognition as a sophomore in 2014.

She also has the most AVCA All-Region honors for any player in program history, earning a spot on the postseason list in each of her four seasons at the Capstone. This year, Rivers was named SEC Player of the Year, leading the league in kills (705) and points (803.5).

She ended her Alabama career as the program's all-time leader in kills, moving into first place in the final week of the regular season before finishing with 2,148. She also is the career leader in points (2,506.0) and ranks among the top five in seven other categories.

As a team, Alabama finished the 2016 season with a 20-11 record.

This marks the third time in the last four seasons the Tide has finished with 20 or more wins, the first such stretch in program history.

A sweep over Arkansas on Oct. 21 marked the 50th SEC win for head coach Ed Allen, reaching that mark in his sixth season at the helm, which is faster than any coach at Alabama.
